From September 7th to 9th, 2024, teachers from Primary School No. 4 in Racibórz participated in international robotics workshops in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, as part of the "Discover Robotics via STEM" project. This project is the result of cooperation between nine partners from Turkey, Poland, Iceland, Spain, Denmark, Portugal, and Ireland, aimed at promoting education in robotics and STEM subjects among primary school students.
The teachers' visit began with an organizational meeting where the "Módurmál samtók" mobility program and Nordic Academy Studies were presented. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about STEM education initiatives in Nordic countries.
On the first day, the teachers visited Hólabrekkuskóli, where they were given a tour of the facility. They then observed classes with students aged 11-14. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about Iceland's approach to technology education.
After the intensive workshops, the teachers also had the chance to explore Reykjavik, including sites such as the Perlan Museum, which houses a planetarium, and Harpa, the famous cultural and conference center. They also visited the University of Reykjavik, where a robotics workshop took place, and participants were introduced to the latest technologies in the field, particularly in the educational context.
The highlight of the trip was a tour of Iceland’s historical sites, such as Þingvellir National Park, waterfalls, and the so-called Golden Circle – a popular tourist route that allows visitors to discover the natural wonders of this extraordinary country.
Thanks to international cooperation and the exchange of experiences, the teachers from Racibórz returned with new ideas for using robotics in Polish schools, enriching the educational offerings for students. The workshops in Reykjavik were not only an opportunity for professional development but also for establishing valuable contacts with teachers from other countries, which will undoubtedly lead to further cooperation in the future.
